"Hi Everyone! My name is Hannah Hope. Michelle Hope, the incredible founder of Serenity Roast, is my sister-in-law. A bit about my story: I was born and raised just outside of Chicago, IL. In 2017, I went to grad school to become a school psychologist. Ultimately, my internship for that program wound me up in Anchorage, AK where I interned and worked as a school psychologist with the Anchorage School District. It was there that I met my husband, Jon, an Army Airborne Infantryman, who had been stationed in Anchorage. We quickly fell in love, got married, got a puppy and started our lives together. Unfortunately, less than a year after getting married, I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The Army quickly re-located Jon and I to Rochester, MN so that I could get the treatment that I needed as my situation was rapidly advancing. After 12 rounds of chemo, a partial liver resection, partial colon resection and 3 rounds of radiation, I was deemed cancer free. We were now settled in Rochester, MN and looking forward to starting the next chapter. A few months later, during a routine check-in with my oncology team, it came back that my tumor indicator level was once again elevated, and the search began to see what was causing it. It was then that we found my cancer had returned on my cervix and in my lungs. After a successful tumor removal surgery on my cervix, my team turned their focus to my lungs. I required a lung ablation and a return to chemotherapy. That brings us to present day, I still have several cancerous nodules in my lungs and due to their extensive nature, I am still on chemo (I’ll complete my 24th round this week) and my team thinks my best chance at a cure lies with a clinical trial at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland.
It’s been a long road but the truth is I’m grateful. Grateful for my family, friends, faith and incredible support system. Grateful for my medical team and the incredible care I have received. And finally, grateful to all of you. The generosity of people like you has sustained our spirits and made this long road brighter and less lonely.
A cup of Magnolia Mornings is my favorite way to start each morning. I HOPE that you love it too and thank you for supporting this amazing business as well as my family throughout this time. It means everything to us! Enjoy the delicious coffee!!"
